The Flute Frenzy Association sponsors
a flute choir experience for young flutists in the
Williamsburg area. This youth flute choir, directed
by Margaret Carlson, performs locally for community
events such as First Night and is featured regularly
at the Kimball Theater.
In 2006 James Towne Trilogy,
a 3 movement composition, was commissioned by Flute
Frenzy to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Jamestown.
It was written especially for Flute Frenzy by award
winning composer, Catherine McMichael, who was in
attendance at the premiere performance on Sunday,
March 4th 2007 at the Kimball Theater in the Historic
Triangle of Virginia. James Towne Trilogy was performed by Flute Frenzy on the Democracy Stage
in Anniversary Park, Jamestown, on Saturday May
12th, 2007 as part of the Jamestown 2007 Anniversary
Weekend commemoration.
In 2002, the flute choir received
an invitation to perform for the National Flute
Association's Annual Convention.
Flute Frenzy is made up of middle
and high school students in Williamsburg, James
City County, and York County.
