Margaret
Carlson is the artistic director
and conductor for Flute Frenzy. She is a free-lance
flutist residing in Williamsburg. She received her
Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from
Greensboro College and her Master of Music degree
from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has studied
with Maurice Sharp, William Hebert, Julius Baker and
Thomas Nyfenger.
Presently she performs with the Williamsburg Symphonia.
Her previous orchestral positions have been with the
Ft. Wayne Philharmonic, the Norfolk Symphony, and
the Virginia Opera.
She coached the flute section of Jamestown High School's
band on a weekly basis, serves as a chamber ensemble
coach for the Williamsburg Youth Orchestra, and has
directed Flute Frenzy since they began rehearsing
together in May 2000.
