Summer Session Starts Soon!

Please mark your calendars for Flute Frenzy’s Summer Flute Camp program:
July 14-18
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church
Current students, please note:  Your full year’s tuition payment includes this summer session.  There is no extra charge to take part in the summer!

The theme will be Kaleidoscope—
No need to ask—-of course, we will make a kaleidoscope you can take home with you!  We will also create some musical kaleidoscopes using our flutes and play a piece of music called “Kaleidoscope” which is written for boomwhackers and flutes.
The daily schedule will look something like this:
9:00  Warm-up/wake-up
9:15  Techniques class
9:45  Small ensembles (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
10:45  Snack
11:00  Special presentations may include:  demos (piccolo/pennywhistle/fife/Irish flute/baroque flute), field trip, craft projects
11:45  Large ensemble
12:30  Pick-up

One of our special presenters will be Jeff Phelps, the former director of the Williamsburg Youth Orchestra.  He has a degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where his courses included Dalcroze Eurhythmics.  Tuesday he will present a class on Eurhythmics.  He did this for us once before and it was a great hit!
As usual we will give a little performance at the end of the session, and end with a group lunch.
So mark your calendars, and talk this up with any flutists you know.  I am sure we will all have a wonderful time!

New PRELUDE Session Starts Soon!

The next session of the Prelude class for beginner flutists (1st or 2nd year), sponsored by Flute Frenzy, begins Wednesday, April 16. Students who participate in this class will be eligible to take part in Flute Frenzy’s spring concert on May 18.  We keep the class size small, and, as a result, we can give the students a lot of personal instruction.  The class meets Wednesday evenings, 6-7 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 7479 Richmond Road, Williamsburg 23188.  Cost of the 6-week class is only $50.  There is no “audition” for this class.
